Pastor Jerry Rairdon continues the “Call Resistance” series with a message based on Moses’ call to serve God. Many of us feel like Moses. Who am I to do God’s work? We each carry around flaws and mistakes from the past. Moses was an orphan, lacked an identity, had poor anger control and had run away from his people. Yet, God came to him and turned all those weaknesses into strengths. No matter what our failures may be, God has the power to transform our past into a future that blesses others. What do you need to submit to our redeeming God?

Pastor Jerry Rairdon kicks off a new message series entitled “Call Resistance.” Today we hear the story of Jonah. Set in the period of Jeroboam II (786-746 BCE, but probably written after the exile), Jonah was called by God to preach a message of repentance to the Ninevites, a people hated by the Israelites. Jonah fled in the opposite direction but God does not allow him to escape his call. Eventually, Jonah concedes and to his chagrin the Ninevites repent. The message challenges our prejudices and reminds us that God loves all persons regardless of nation or ethnicity.
