Gracious God, on this holiday weekend, in the midst of celebrating the Independence of our nation and the wonderful gathering of many families, may we take a moment of silence to reflect on the great gifts we have received and remember that they come from your providence. May your advocate, your Holy Spirit, inspire in each of us as individuals and all of us as the community of Christ, not only to appreciate what we have as gifts on loan from you, but inspire us to pray for guidance about how to share what we have with those who do not have all that they need. Help us to remember that all people, regardless of circumstances, nationality, ethnicity or race are our brothers and sisters, fellow human beings, lovingly created by God. We humbly and gratefully pray in the name of our Savior, Jesus the Christ. Amen.
