COVID-19 update ... Dinner's on Us continues to coordinate delivery of two lunches per week to the senior units at Noble Manor Apartments. Meal pick-up is available on Thursdays 2:30-3pm. Attendees pick up frozen Chik-Fil-A, wonderful organic produce and eggs from Teter Farm, and cookies baked by chef Mike Cowart. We are also sharing the bounty of frozen Chick-Fil-A with the lunch program at Sheridan Methodist Church.
Dinner’s On Us community meal
With over 27,000 food insecure people in Hamilton County, this is a program that offers us each an opportunity to follow Jesus’s command to “feed my sheep.”
Noblesville First has been involved in serving this free weekly community dinner for over 10 years, typically welcoming 30-40 people each week. Some of the guests are retired, on fixed incomes, and appreciate the chance to visit with others. Some single parents appreciate the weekly meal they don’t have to pay for. Some guests just like to have a night off from cooking and enjoy the fellowship.
The main dish is provided by Second Helpings, a food-rescue organization, with the church supplementing with salads, vegetables, desserts and drinks. Although the church does not have a formal food pantry, we have take-home food available including: organic eggs from the chickens at Teter Retreat & Farm, day-old Panera bread, as well as frozen items donated by Chick-Fil-A.
We also have a monthly cart of food available from the donation baskets outside the Sanctuary and Celebration Hall, and new or gently used stuffed animals and books are given out the children as special treats.
