Today I will be attending the first-round games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament held here in Indy. My son-in-law has a friend who works with the NCAA and was able to secure tickets. He chose to have me enjoy the extra ticket today. This is my favorite time of the year as I have a passion for college basketball. This makes Matt my favorite son-in-law for this week 😉 On Saturday, he will be taking my daughter Kelsey to the games while I watch the grandkids, Coen & Fletcher. I consider that a win-win. In addition, my brother from Knoxville came up last night to take in the University of Tennessee games as they are playing here in Indy. Our family, church staff and our Noblesville First Growth Group are all holding bracket contests which adds to the fun this time of year. I am just grateful to see IU in the tournament this year after a six-year drought. Whatever they accomplish will be a bonus. Good luck to whatever team you are rooting for this year.
This weekend is a big one for Pastor Jill Moffett, Director of Student Ministry David McKenzie, and our Confirmation students. They will be holding their Confirmation Retreat and dinner this Friday and then we will hold the Confirmation Service this Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary (Door 1). We encourage all congregation members to celebrate their reception into the church by attending this special service. We will lay hands on the confirmands and pray for their lifelong spiritual journey. By the way, David McKenzie reported at Tuesday's staff meeting that $6,474 was raised through the 200 Envelopes Fundraiser. Thank you for your generosity!
Director of Family Ministry Ally Hall has almost 40 kids coming to the Respite Night to be held this Saturday, March 19. She needs three more volunteers to get to the 18 necessary to provide for an optimum program. The required training is accessible by video, and she will make sure you are placed in a role you are comfortable with. Please email Ally at ahall@noblesvillefirst.com.
Ally is also in need of lots of treat bag GOODIES and VOLUNTEERS for our Noblesville First Easter Egg-travaganza to be held at Teter Retreat and Farm on Saturday, April 16 from 10:30-noon. This year we are having games, crafts, inflatables, and three egg hunting fields so we need volunteers to staff each of those activities. Bring your donations of non-chocolate candies, stickers, small toys, pencils, and similar items for the treat bags to the office by April 10. Learn more and volunteer at NoblesvilleFirst.com/lent.
Megan Thomas, the school counselor at White River Elementary is asking for snack donations to help them finish out the year. We really came through for them at the beginning of the year. They have 50 students on their snack pack list which means they must hand out 250 snacks each week. Find the list of snacks that are most helpful and a link to their Amazon wish list at ... The Dinner's on Us weekly food pick up is available on Thursdays 2:30-3PM at Door 6 at the west end of the church. Attendees pick up frozen Chik-Fil-A chicken, fresh eggs from Teter, fresh Teter produce when it's in season, day-old Panera breads, non-perishable grocery items and frequent surprises. We are currently in need of a volunteer to pick up the Chick-Fil-A donation each Thursday morning and deliver it to the church. If this is a task you can help with, please email Loi Mileham at mileham2@aol.com or call the church office at 317-773-2500.
Teter Organic Farm has donated over 20,000 eggs to Dinner's On Us and area food pantries since we launched the chicken ministry in 2017. If you would like to support Teter's food security mission and you love animals, consider joining the Chicken Tender Team. The times are flexible and can be worked around your schedule, making it a great volunteer opportunity for individuals or parent-child teams. Contact Pam at TMHPAB1@aol.com or 317-385-6799 (talk/text) if you want to learn more about chicken caretaking.
In other Teter news, we want to extend our gratitude to Gaylor Electric for providing us a very discounted price to run electricity to all four of our hoop houses at Teter.
The First Friday Lunch & Program is scheduled for April 1 at noon in Celebration Hall where we will enjoy Chef Mike’s chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, assorted desserts and drinks, all for the price of $13 and hear the music of the Gospel Seekers. Sign up on the counter outside the church office or click the link at NoblesvilleFirst.com/FirstFriday by noon on Monday, March 28.
The Noblesville First Kids program, which runs from 9:45-10:45 on Sundays, will continue their series on cooperation. They'll look at Luke 5:17- 26. We discover a paralyzed man who just happened to have some excellent friends. When they heard that Jesus was in town, they tried everything to get their friend to Jesus. When they arrived, the place was packed. Instead of giving up, the friends went to the roof and tore a hole big enough to drop their friend down right in front of Jesus. Jesus did something unbelievable because of their faith and cooperation. Bottom Line: Work together to help someone in need. If we cooperate with others to meet those needs, we have
a better chance of making a difference in their life and pointing them to God.
In tonight's Thursday Worship at 6:30 on Zoom, Pastor Matt Hantelman will finish his Good Question series tonight with "How do I discern whether it is God speaking to me or something else?" For more information about this discussion focused group contact Matt at mhantelman@noblesvillefirst.com.
This Sunday Pastor Jerry will be preaching at the Contemporary Services at 9:45 and 11:00. We will take a close look at the word daily as it is used in the portion of the Lord’s Prayer which states, “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Pastor Jill will be preaching at the Traditional Worship Sunday at 8:30 & 9:45 in the Sanctuary and will connect the Lord’s Prayer to Jesus’ command to Peter to “feed my sheep.” In preparation, for Jill’s message read John 21:15-17.
