Dear Noblesville First family,
This Sunday we will say farewell to Pastor Jill Moffett. Pastor Jill came to our congregation in the midst of the global pandemic. Her initial meeting with the Staff Parish Relations Committee was on Zoom! Can you imagine the faith that it took to say yes to God‘s next move not even being able to physically meet with the church you’ve been appointed to?
I praise God for Jill‘s leadership among us and I’m reminded that we too are often asked to follow God’s direction without much detail. Paul said it this way to the Corinthians: “now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully.”
Please enjoy this photo of Pastor Jill and I at the church's Trunk or Treat event. You can’t say we won’t do anything for kids or Christ! We will miss this bumblebee!
At the beginning of the second month of this new year, we may feel like we too are only seeing a reflection. We made plans, goals, or resolutions, but what they will ultimately be is still not fully clear. This is because the journey of discipleship is walking by faith and not by sight. It’s looking through a zoom camera and trusting that on the other side, God has gone before you and will be with you every step of the way. I pray you feel God’s leading this week as you continue to walk by faith. Perhaps that journey will bring you into worship on Sunday at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 as Pastor Jill will be sharing her final sermon with us, followed by a reception in her honor in the parlor at noon.
Finally, I hope that same journey will help you take the next step in one of the areas of growth we shared during our "What’s Next?" sermon series. Over the next few weeks, you’ll find ways that you can join us on upcoming mission trips, the renovation of The Vine, our music and arts academy initiative, and relaunching our contemporary service in the fall.
We sometimes see only a reflection, but just a glimpse of Jesus is enough for us to keep moving.
Keep the Faith@First,
Pastor Nicole
