Legendary basketball coach John Wooden once said, “Little things make big things happen.” Popsicles on a hot afternoon, free pizza after a long day of school and football game, cookies at a cross country meet, dinner during week long theater dress rehearsals ... all of these things are small things individually but collectively have the potential to make big things happen.
The student ministry team has been actively pursuing ways to partner with the High School to offer “random acts of kindness” to many of the extra-curricular teams and organizations.
Each fall, over 250 members of the high school football team, cheerleaders, dance team, managers and coaches were welcomed to Noblesville First for a dinner to celebrate Homecoming. One Mom commented, “So thankful for community minded churches like Noblesville UMC!! You truly make an impact on everyone, whether you see it now or not!! Your Boss is pleased!”
In addition to the Football Dinner we have also hosted the Marching Millers before home football games for a meal provided by parents and students after the games for free pizza. We have had over 100 students each week after the games.
The goal of student outreach is to let students, teachers and coaches of Noblesville High School know they are loved by God and members of Noblesville First ... with no strings attached! By being a presence of support and encouragement in students daily activities we have the potential to garner trust, faith and a safe place if there ever comes a time when a church family is needed.
Admiral William McRaven stated in a commencement address in 2014 that, “the person who does the little things right can probably be trusted with the bigger things in life.”
