December worship series "God Gives Birth"
Babies impact our lives and when we examine the Advent scriptures we notice that only Matthew and Luke have included the actually birth of the baby Jesus. The Gospels of Mark and John have no mention. So, there must be something to the fact that God chose to come to earth as a baby. Matthew and Luke have a purpose in mind by detailing how Jesus was brought into this world.
In our Advent worship series, wee will look at this more closely by noting that babies impact our lives in many ways. Babies refocus our priorities causing us to move away from our self-centeredness. They give us something besides ourselves to live for. We will also take note of how babies bring us together by looking at the diverse group of people who gathered around the Christ child. And finally, on Christmas Eve we will celebrate the miracle of life that every child is but especially the miracle of Jesus’ birth a world that seemed so dark and hopeless.
